MacBook users: set up screen sharing
This is a one-time setup. Do it before your first workshop so you can share your screen when it counts.
- Download and install Teams (use the button above).
- Start a test meeting: go to Calendar, then select Meet now in the top right corner.
- Select Share and choose any screen or window.
- A prompt will appear. Click the button in it, then switch the permission on for Teams.
- Important: restart your computer.
- Open Teams again and test that you can share your screen.
Quick fixes
No sound? Check your speaker and mic settings
- Make sure the Mic button at the top isn't crossed out (you're unmuted) and your computer's volume is up.
- Select the small arrow next to Mic. Under Speaker, choose your headphones or speakers and drag the volume slider up. Under Microphone, choose your microphone.
- Speak and watch the bars under Microphone. If they move, Teams can hear you.
- If you use a headset, unplug and replug it (or reconnect Bluetooth), then check the lists again.
- Still nothing? Select More audio settings at the bottom of that menu, or leave the meeting, restart Teams, and rejoin.
Camera not working? Get your video back
- Check that the Camera button at the top isn't crossed out. Select it to turn your video on.
- Select the small arrow next to Camera and choose your camera from the list.
- Close other apps that may be using the camera, such as Zoom or FaceTime.
- Allow camera access: on a Mac, System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera; on Windows, Settings > Privacy & security > Camera. Make sure Teams is on.
- Restart Teams and rejoin.
